&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;Nancy McCarthy&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039; (born June 8, 1937 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) is an American actress perhaps best known for her role as &amp;quot;Bunny&amp;quot; in the original 1963 pilot (unaired until 1992) for &amp;#039;&amp;#039;[[Gilligan&amp;#039;s Island]]&amp;#039;&amp;#039;.&lt;br /&gt;

==Career==&lt;br /&gt;
After the &amp;#039;&amp;#039;Gilligan&amp;#039;s Island&amp;#039;&amp;#039; pilot was made, series creator [[Sherwood Schwartz]], after many network problems, decided to make changes, including dropping McCarthy&amp;#039;s character. She also appeared in two other unaired TV pilots: &amp;#039;&amp;#039;Zelda&amp;#039;&amp;#039; with Sheila James and on &amp;#039;&amp;#039;The Peter Lorre Playhouse&amp;#039;&amp;#039;.&lt;br /&gt;

McCarthy made appearances on a total of eight episodes of other television series, including &amp;#039;&amp;#039;[[My Three Sons]]&amp;#039;&amp;#039;, &amp;#039;&amp;#039;[[The Donna Reed Show]]&amp;#039;&amp;#039;, &amp;#039;&amp;#039;[[The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis]]&amp;#039;&amp;#039;, &amp;#039;&amp;#039;[[Adventures in Paradise (TV series)|Adventures in Paradise]]&amp;#039;&amp;#039;, &amp;#039;&amp;#039;[[Lock-Up (TV series)|Lock Up]]&amp;#039;&amp;#039; and &amp;#039;&amp;#039;[[Surfside 6]]&amp;#039;&amp;#039; .&amp;lt;ref&amp;gt;[http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1386266 IMDB List of appearances]&amp;lt;/ref&amp;gt;&lt;br /&gt;

McCarthy originally made her New York stage debut as Dixie Evans in [[The Big Knife]] at the Seven Arts Playhouse in 1959, which starred Carroll O&amp;#039;Connor and was directed by Peter Bogdanovich.&amp;lt;ref&amp;gt;Playbill/The Big Knife/NYC/1959&amp;lt;/ref&amp;gt; She appeared in several live television plays produced in New York including &amp;#039;&amp;#039;True Story&amp;#039;&amp;#039;, &amp;#039;&amp;#039;Divorce Court,&amp;#039;&amp;#039; and &amp;#039;&amp;#039;Moment of Fear&amp;#039;&amp;#039; with Robert Redford on the &amp;quot;Alfred Hitchcock Presents&amp;quot; series.  On stage in Los Angeles she played Maggie in &amp;#039;&amp;#039;After The Fall&amp;#039;&amp;#039;.&lt;br /&gt;

Her regional credits include Flirt in &amp;#039;&amp;#039;Dark at the Top of the Stairs&amp;#039;&amp;#039; with Sylvia Sydney at the Cape Playhouse in Dennis Massachusetts and as Maisie in &amp;#039;&amp;#039;The Boy Friend&amp;#039;&amp;#039; at the Pittsburgh Playhouse.&lt;br /&gt;

McCarthy retired from acting after suffering a back injury in 1972, but continued to work as a print and fashion model and, later, in the advertising and design field.  Her final television credit is the pilot for &amp;#039;&amp;#039;Gilligan&amp;#039;s Island&amp;#039;&amp;#039;, which finally aired on  [[TBS (U.S. TV channel)|TBS]] on 16 October 1992, twenty-nine years after it was filmed.&lt;br /&gt;

==Personal life==&lt;br /&gt;
Nancy Darlyne McCarthy grew up in Pittsburgh and graduated from Carnegie Tech (now Carnegie Mellon University)with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Drama.  She began her acting career by appearing in local theater and performing on a weekly radio play.  While still a student in college, she auditioned for director [[Otto Preminger]] for the title role in his movie &amp;#039;&amp;#039;Saint Joan&amp;#039;&amp;#039;. &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
McCarthy married twice, first to a fellow actor, and later to a businessman to whom she is still married.  They live outside of California.&lt;br /&gt;
